Replacement engine

Looking to replace an engine in a Toro personal pace mower. Present engine is B&S Model 128T02 Type 3256-B1
Code 10010858. Engine overheated and damaged valves. Drop in replacement is 128M02-0025, which requires replacing crankshaft & transfer flywheel assy.. Not a very viable option, in my opinion. Another option that may work is 126T07-0332. It has the same crankshaft as the original engine. Would that work or do you have any other suggestions for a replacement? Seems the biggest problem is the stepped crankshaft with external threads. What about going with an engine and changing the way the blade bolts on? This is for a customer and I am looking for the best possible options other than buying a new mower.

I don't what the Toro costs but from my experience small mowers are more cost effective if just replaced with new one when to comes to replacing the engine.

126T07-0332-B1 isn't a current replacement per the Briggs power portal but there still some stock out there. Even its replacement the 126L07-5660-F1 require you to do the change things. If cost is the main restraint it maybe more viable to change out the blade and mount to something like the AYP or similar uses then you could even use an HF (I didn't say that) engine if needed.

This mower was fairly expensive and a mice nest did it in after 2 yrs. I peened the seat back in, but she said it only worked for half the year. She wanted a new engine and when I searched last year, before I fixed it, I found one for somewhere around 125.00 shippped. Now, it must not be out there.

Not looking good. The one site that had one for 114.00 no longer has any. The other two are the same and price with shipping would be 293.00! Yikes. Can go shortblock route but still have all the work involved and it will cost over 160.00 for parts.

I wish they would keep their websites updated better.

That the way has been going lately. Can't even do a decent overhaul without it costing more than the replace engine. I even got a generator in the shop that the replacement engine costs more than the whole replacement generator does.

It getting to be a buy and throw away world.
