Overall it is very simple to install normally; although, it may sound complicated.
Normally most pulleys will be notched so you can install the rope and windup the pulley tension but not all pulleys are notched. When installing new or reinstalling old pull rope, wind the pulley spring tension until it stops and the back off one or more turns depending length the rope. After installing the rope test the winding and make sure doesn't stop before the rope is full extended, if it stops back off the spring tension another turn. This will insure that as a new ropes stretches as it settle in you don't end with a loose pull rope a few weeks later.
If you still have the old rope ends pay attention how it was installed on the pulley and how it was tied at the pull handle. Some ropes are tied with a simple knot or a figure 8 knot but some are a little more involved. This knot tying varies from machine to machine even in same manufacture. And if rope is install at the pulley with a knot make it gets stuffed into retaining hole as to be out the way. If it not done the knot will cause binding as the pulley turns.
