I've recently got a Briggs Intek 5hp 110402-0206-E1 running, but find that I'm still lean. Starts easily, good compression, no smoke. However engine hunts at idle and will die unless choke is closed one or two clicks. OK at part throttle and full throttle.
I'd like to go the a slightly richer main jet, but don't want to be guessing, as new jets are $7 or $8 each. According to IPL, correct jet for this motor is 694975. Other jets for same basic engine are 498976, 493673, and 695042. The larger 12 CID engine 121402-0194-E1 calls for 690048 Main Jet per IPL. Assume larger engine has main jet which flows more, but don't know that to be a fact.
Does anyone has a table which cross main jet part numbers to relative jet size? Or does any one have drill size specs for various Intek main jets? While I'd prefer not to drill, if I know what I'm doing that would be "plan B". Appreciate any help.
