Kohler Magneto

Postby JandL » Mon May 26, 2014 10:32 am

I have a LGT 2654, 960450037, ser# 012513A003600 in the shop today that has NO ignition at all, no spark on ether plug. Investigation showed the positive wire from the alternator was broken leading to the ignition module on the left side as sitting on the seat, fixed same now I have power to the ignition system but still no spark. Further investigation showed the LEFT (as sitting on the seat) ignition magneto has burned up, the B+ terminal is loose and burnt badly. So, I need a magneto for that side and here is where my problem is:

Engine Kohler SV735, Spec SV735-3032. Part number as shown on the module itself is 24-584-89. That part number is NLA from what I can find, other numbers are given as superseded such as 2458489S but that is also NLA, so, what part number do I need? All stores are closed today so I can't contact my supply source.

Thanks for everything...

Replace both

new, updated ignition - magneto ignition, no 12V power to them.

May be worth checking the key switch to make sure that it's not shooting a dose of volts down the kill wire.

the original DSAi is supposed to get that dose of volts or it won't fire.. The new replacement magnetos must NOT get a dose of volts, which is why the parts do not cross reference and Kohler directs you to the TSB which is in downloads section... with detailed information how to re-wire things. :)
