Need carb rebuild kit part number?

Postby Arkie » Sat Nov 22, 2014 7:53 pm

Cannot seem to locate a part number for a rebuild kit for this Briggs carb? :?
Briggs 10 hp L-Head
Model 254707
type 0124 01
code 92071750

searching parts indicates that Briggs carb part number may be 495784 or old number 494881

Cannot seem to locate a rebuild kit that is listed as for either of these carbs????? :(
Anyone got a clue????

One of them situations where with careful shopping a new carb can be found for about same price as a rebuild kit.
The carb is mine (not for a customer) so hopefully with some luck after inspection and ultrasonic cleaning I may only need a bowl gasket. Also on this Auction bought equipment the carb is not user friendly for removing and re-installing due to the location and mounting arrangement of the engine.

Thanks for the info and prompt response. :)

Getting more and more common on the newer engines and sometimes that is all that is available. Just did a tiller engine where Briggs replaced the Walbro that was on the engine with a Ruixing carburetor.

Just be aware that if you end up needing the nozzle/jet that it is no longer included in the repair kit and must be ordered separately.

Good info about nozzle.
I'll first try leaving the nozzle installed. I do have a real good gunsmith screwdriver (hollow ground) set that I use for a correct fit of the nozzle and jet slots so as to not mutilate the slotl.
I'm more careful when I know the up front prices, availability of stuff and especially if NLA or taking care of a dinosaur egg. :bricks:
