Mowers- Fast vs. Slow

The 22298 has a Kawasaki FJ180V KAI I/C 179cc rated set at 3200 r/min (rpm) max producing around 6 HP. It is a commercial engine using a cast iron cylinder liner and chrome plated piston rings

Ok then, explain to me what gives them that turboprop whoosh sound. They sound wonderful.

I may be wrong but I think I was told my Cub Recon has a blade tip speed of around 16,000 fpm. Anyway it sounds like a jet, I always wear earmuffs, not just for the engine noise but for the blades.

I can hear it all the way at the back of the farm when my wife is mowing and that is about a mile back. I read that commercial fabricated decks are allowed to have much faster blade speed than the stamped out sheet metal ones.
