Tec engine.

Postby Buckshot 1 » Fri Oct 17, 2014 3:05 pm

:) Hello all. I need some help. 1st question can somebody convert the Sears number to a Tec number 143.99507, my chart only goes to 503? As you may/may not know, I do very little 2 cycle work. This engine has no compression. Seeing how the head is built into the block, how do you get the piston out? I am trying to help a Buddy out who is down on is luck, lost job and is trying to keep his head above water. This will be free gratis deal. Thank you for your time. :usa:

Have to split the crankcase and pull piston out through crankcase where they have no head.

Engine HSK850-8330C

What the missing digit in the 143.99507? Shouldn't be 3 by 6 number?

:) BSG< Thank you. After looking at the IPL, this engine must have a two piece crankshaft After pulling the sump, can I pull the crank with the flywheel attached? As I am going to replace the piston and rings? If so how do I get the rings compressed, so that I can install the piston back in the block. In the service manual for this engine it does not give you this information. The only information is their are two different syle rings. Thank you for your time. :usa:

It is that everything Craftsman Tecumseh number I have here in the cross reference is formatted as 123.123456. From what from Brian's comment is that your number was 143.995071 so I will need so searching to find cross that includes this number. The current info I have only got a 143.995006 or 143.995506 and skipped to 143.995008 or 143.995508.

I didn't have the service manual on the larger 2C but I now have downloaded it.

It is easy dont even have to separate crank and rod - one piece crank, 2 piece rod. I recommend NOT disassembling rod if at all possible because the needle bearings are loose - it is a ROYAL PITA to get them all back in place. Pull the sump, crank should come out with rod and piston - the cylinder bore will have a taper to it on the bottom end to aid in pushing the piston/rings back in - Just use extreme care and make sure the rings are lined up with any locating pins in the piston grooves or you'll break them if you try to force piston in with new rings - Oil rings and piston, and with a little care and getting it just square, you should be able to push the piston and rings into the cylinder with a little effort and no need for a compressor (though you can compress rings with fingers to help them along)
