Throttle Linkage Honda GX-160

Postby AZSUN » Tue Apr 01, 2014 2:12 pm

I pulled the Carb off my Honda GX-160 to clean it, but then I forgot to take a picture of how the original linkage was hooked up. What a mistake. I attached a couple pictures and if anyone knows, please let me know if this is correct. There are 2 holes for large spring under gas tank etc.

In the first picture you should look closely and you see some wear on the hole that spring was in previously..

Looked but both holes look the same, do not see wear anywhere, had cleaned all that area up. Yikes

On my GX 160 the spring is on the back hole on the governor arm but the other end hooks to the throttle control not the carb. The little spring rapped around the linkage hooks into the hole on the carb.

Maybe this will help. It from the shop manual.

Thank You. That shows me exactly.
It appears from my pictures at top that it is correct the way I have it hooked up. Just that big spring in back seems loose and that was why was in question.

Thank Again

That is normal, the governor spring will be slack at idle. You did it correctly.

Appreciate the help on figuring out where the new linkage and springs are suppose to go on the throttle for my Honda GX-160. Now that I have hooked up, does this look normal once hooked up, the way it operates? Seems nothing really moves but the lever.

Nothing will move without the engine running. Once started, the governor spring will try to pull the throttle wide open, the governor wants to slow it down. Did you have the governor arm loosened or off the shaft? If so you need to re set the static adjustment. Loosen the clamp and hold the throttle lever at full throttle. Rotate the shaft clockwise as far as it will go and without moving the linkage tighten the clamp screw.
