The only thing that can change ignition timing physically is the flywheel to crankshaft timing. The ignition coil should be mounted in a fixed position with it being triggered magnetically and electronically controlled @ 5 degrees BTDC (Retarded) until rpms are above 800 then it switches to 25 degrees BTDC.
