Bump…

Dumb question, but this is my first time working on a Kohler. The fuel solenoid on the bottom of the carb… when 12V is applied, should it "click" or "clunk" like they do on the Briggs I'm used to? I hear nothing at all when voltage is applied to this one (and I have used my DMM to verify that the voltage IS getting there.

Does lack of "clunk" indicate bad solenoid on Kohlers like it does on Briggs?

Thanks!

check continuity and resistance of the solenoid - Make sure it is grounded - got to be somewhere for the current to flow, and if you can verify that voltage is going to it and can get from it back to the battery, then yes it should click or operate (You could remove it for testing on the bench and use jumper wires)

Worst case, if solenoid is deemed too expensive you could replace it with a standard bowl nut/screw for that carburetor (I think Walbro?) but it would be a safety issue then unless you are careful to idle down and make sure throttle stays CLOSED while engine shuts down.
