Have you checked the throttle plate in the carb? Maybe a screw came loose and it does not shut properly.

Check the throttle butterfly,I have seen them fall off,leaving carb essentially wide open

Thanks Travis. I have been a hobby photographer for 20+ years...I owned a portrait studio for several years until the early 90's and have had a few of my wildlife images published in hunting/fishing magazines. So all that "experience" helps when taking pics of this stuff.

Hmmm. Very strange..Have you made sure the governor weights are actually moving the center pin in and out? It may have got under the weights somehow. Other than that I'm at a loss here as why it is giving problems. Keep us posted as to what is causing it.

Then thanks to you too 38racing. Just missed your post and didn't mean to leave you out.

Been busy taking my time re-assembling 6-8K generator. I wish it had steel sleeve engine instead that aluminum bore. Had to use a shop crane this time; things are getting too heavy with my back problems.
