K100 Fuel treatment

Postby jgflawn » Sat Mar 08, 2014 10:41 am

Anyone using; recommending; and/or selling in their shop? At what ratio? The marketing material actually says that it can clean your carb of light build-up - to the point a hard starting carb, if the K100 is added at 150:1 and left to sit, will clean partial blockages. The shop I use for repairs is carrying the small bottles right on the counter, and the owner told me they are adding a capful into every machine before they leave the shop.

K100 G Marine Gas Treatment, K100 MD, K100 MG, and other similar K-100 products: Kinetic Laboratories Inc.
Primary ingredients = 2 Butoxyethanol, Ethylene Glycol, Monobutyl ether…
Risk for attracting and absorbing water = High – Contains alcohol.
The K100 marine brochure and website falsely state, “Eliminates water and all water related problems, (Misleading and impossible claim)….”Stops phase separation in E-10 fuel”, (Again, scientifically impossible claim).

Never used it,but we'll swear by B3C Solutions' Mechanic in a Bottle - It even breaks up and demolishes Hardened and cured Epoxy Resin... (Proven Experience here.) so it has no trouble with gum and varnish in a carburetor. It saves a lot of time on some engines with a carb that the top comes off (Onan, Briggs Vanguard Nikki, Briggs Twin Opposed, etc.) rather than removing the intake manifokld assembly and then removing carb for ultrasonic cleaning, we can take the top off, pour in full strength MIB and let it sit a few hours while other work is being done, come back and drain it, clean up, flush with spray carb cleaner, put it back together and runs like a charm! Saves an hour's (or more) labor to R&R the manifold assembly to get a carb off... and we habitually dose a 1/2 Oz per gallon on every machine that comes through the shop.

After seeing our results with that stuff, its the only product we sell and recommend anymore.. It can be had in various size bottles as well as packaged with Ethanol Shield in a 2 Oz per bottle combo pack for a double-whammy - First, use MIB to clean up and flush fuel system, then add the Ethanol Shield (one ounce per 10 Gallons) to freshly bought fuel for trouble-free storage - All out regular customers that have started using it religiously with their fresh fuel purchases at the gas station- *none* of them have had carburetor or fuel problems since. (Except for one that had a leak when they tried to twist that "I thought it swiveled" nylon + steel fuel elbow.)

The first thing I do when someone mentions a product is look up the MSDS. How do you fight alcohol with alcohol?
I found a local supply of real gas...time to drain the generator and stock up on a fresh can of two stroke.

Of course, the best solution for ethanol is to not use gas that contains it. Here in Ontario, there are still 2 brands which don't use ethanol in their high-test (91) and advertise as such right on the pump, in any amount, while 87 octane is mandated to include I believe 10%, but they are allowed to put in 15% without notification. Some others, 'may include' in their high-test as well even though it isn't mandated and they don't tell you.

What part of Ontario are you located? The ESSO canada web site makes no claim of an ethanol free gas. Just says ethanol blended is available and pump will indicate it. I guess if 91 pump does not say it then maybe no ethanol but a local supplier in the Ottawa area has no blend notice under their premium but it still tested at 5%.
