Honda GX340 Valve Cover

Postby Mek-a-nik » Sun Mar 23, 2014 6:11 pm

Over the winter, I rebuilt a pressure washer that was under salt water. A customer gave it to me. I needed a valve cover. Looking At an IPL on Partstree, it listed both 123310-Z5T-000 and 12310-ZE2-020. The former is $4.00 and the latter is $30. I ordered both for the heck of it. The only difference between the two is the breather. One is identical to the original, the other is similar. Both "suck and blow" the same. Wish I knew that before I ordered both! I guess either will work. I wonder why they do that (offer two)?

I kinda wish I could do that. The money is pretty here right now.

First number you posted I can not pull up any where, must be typo there.

The latter version appears to the operation of a vacuum fuel pump. For the that kind money I can modify the $4 one here by putting a nipple in it.

Was a typo. First part of that first number should be 12310.
The latter is like my old one. No fuel pump on this engine.
The covers are identical except for the appearance of the breather (what can be seen of it on the in-side of the cover).

Hmmm. I would think they probably had their reason the differences but that fairly large difference in prices either way. I don't have them at hand to look at either. I have seen the same from companies with different divisions have different prices. Listing both part numbers for the same engine spec isn't making any sense to me either. Might be an EPA related requirement.

I'm thinking the price difference is kinda like the way some of their carbs are dirt cheap, whatever the reason is for that.
