Honda HRR2168VKA vibration

Postby jwales » Mon Jun 02, 2014 2:18 pm

Honda HRR2168VKA serial MZCG-8478885. Friend said it would not stay running, would start but quit. Pulled the carb cleaned it and new fuel lines. Started on second pull and runs fine....except I notice that it has a vibration that seems more than it should when standing still or moving. I pulled the plug wire and tilted the mower up and slowly turned the blades (it has a double blade, never seen that before) and they appear to be "level" in relation to the bottom of mower deck, so I don't think it is a bent shaft :?: . Any other thoughts?? I could not find anything (google) that indicates a problem with this model. He says "no I did not hit anything". He has not changed blades either so am assuming they are on correctly.
Thanks

Maybe just needs the blades balanced?

Try it without the blades.

OK so I ran the mower without the blades or blade bracket and it was much less vibration noticed. I will have to look at a scematic to see if the bracket and blades were assembled correctly. The blades look in good condition (no nicks or chunks ouot of them). I will balance them when I sharpen them. That should probably take care of the vibration issue.
Is there anything else I should maybe check??

Thanks

check the crankshaft with an indicator to see is it is bent,it would vibrate a lot less without the blades because there is less rotating mass.Honda should be smooth as silk
