Honda harmony belt install

Postby stienut13 » Sun Jul 13, 2014 2:37 pm

Hi all,

Working on a 2007 Honda Harmony HRR2162SDA self propelled mower, frame # MZCG7141519. Doing a service on it, belt was thrown off so I figure might as well replace w/ new. I really need a service manual, but can't find on free on line. There is a tensioning bolt on back of the mower, under the grass chute that loosens the tranny so it can be tipped forward. The shield is out, I have good access. Tensioning bolt is almost loosened to its limits. Blades are off and I just need a little more room to get the belt over the tranny pulley and the drive pulley. Once I get the belt back in , what is the tension before applying drive handle? Any ideas form the Honda gurus?

Thanks,

Jim

remove belt cover, loosen nut to end off bolt, roll transmission to loosen belt enough to slip over pulley, snug fit between pulley/deck
install new belt, tighten nut all the way to shoulder on bolt, adjustment is done by moving cable at handle
honda is a little tight on giving out free service manuals

Hi all,

You would think in a county with 350,000 people, 2 major cities and several mower shops, including the Honda mower dealer I could have gotten the belt off the shelf. But noooooooooo.
Honda shop ordered wrong belt first time, will get another on Wednesday. Will keep you updated.

Thanks,

Jim

Not necessarily. The belt is probably a seldom call for size. Like everything else calls for them seems to ran in batches here. I don't even have a 3L x 33.3 in stock here. The closest I have is a 33-7/8 JD belt.

I have similar problems when I need metric hardware. Although Huntsville has one of Nasa Space Centers, the local suppliers are just now getting into stocking the metric hardware. I still end up 20 to 30 one way just to find out if I can get the hardware or that I will need order it; most times I just order it and save my time to work on something else while I wait.

Thanks smallen,

That's what's on order now.
On a kinda related topic. I was talking to a buddy of mine yesterday and he mentioned his Honda self propelled won't roll backwards, the wheels lock up. Just recently started. He didn't now model # so I can't pass it along. What would cause this?

JIm, if like the one your working then half moon key (4) or spring (3) maybe struck in the wheel drive shaft not allowing item 2 to ratchet.

KE,

Thanks,

If it makes it over my way I'll know where to look. Even if it clicks when you push it forward can this be the problem?\
