Poulan pp446 carb problems

Postby londi430 » Sun Aug 10, 2014 8:13 am

Hello, I have Poulan pp446 that I changed the fuel lines, fuel filter, and the carb a walbro 528. Its hard to start and when its does start the idle is high, runs for a couple of minutes and cuts out. The carb is new and I did not do any adjustments to it. Should I adjust the carb or is there something else wrong.

Sounds like you either did not get the carb to intake gasket lined up right, so the fuel pump won't pump, or you have an air leak somewhere.

It should be WT628.

First you should make sure you got the fuel lines routed correctly. An incorrectly connected primer can prime the carburetor but will not let the carburetor fuel pump work normally. It should be pushing fuel into the fuel tank and sucking fuel from carburetor metering diaphragm connection. This should near the side where the large square metal plate that has a small hole it. The fuel supply line (the one with the filter) should feeding the connection that goes to fuel pump diaphragm.
