My question is, the shaft/rod that the gov'r gear rides on is broke off in the block. Is this shaft pressed in? If so how do I get the remaining piece out off the block? I checked the IPL for this engine and did not see the shaft/rod listed, but the service manual tells you to replace if damaged/scared. Any ideas/suggestions will be greatly appreicated. Thank you for your time.

Buckshot 1 wrote::) Walt & Bgs, Thank you for your replies. I kinda fiqured it was going to be a shortblock/new engine. As I am not going to go thru the hassle of trying remove the shaft/rod from the block. Either one of you have any ideas of what may have caused this shaft/rod to break?

Piece of governor gear wedged between cam and gov. gear, shearing the shaft off .. Also observe whether you have any bent pushrod or pieces in the crankcase - they have been known to have pushrods bend or come loose and fall into crankcase, tangling with cam and gov gear.. I have seen TWO that did that here. Both got new engines.
