hello, this is a giver away that i got about 3 years ago. so kinda bored and thinking about this saw i got it out cleaned it up. it starts with a shot of gas but it runs wide open for a few seconds then it dies out. rebuilt carb and it is the titleson and same thing seems like it runs out of gas or it wont pick it up from tank. i havent messed with it in a while. any ideas on where to start on this project would be helpful. thanks

Have you changed out the fuel filter and line. I remember correctly these have a diecast filter that like to corrode close; especially if any water had been in the system.

You also wanna make sure that the rubber intake and impulse fittings are in good shape and not leaking.

yes i have replaced both and when started by gas it starts wide open. thought it might be intake boot. i just know what it is doing havent torn it down yet.

Luffydog let me know if you need the IPL or service manual. I think it the same as 038 with the AV.

Double check the fuel line. I worked on one 3 months ago that had a small crack. It would run with a shot in the carb, but that was it. Didn't find the crack till I put the saw on its side, then noticed it leaking. Fuel line was a bear getting it back in the tank.
