Chrome Rings For Briggs

:) This is a little late, but for future use. B&S chrome rings number 299742 for 3 thru 5 hp. Napa used to have them but can not remmeber the pn.

The Briggs # you provided is for the 5 HP only. The 3 Hp are smaller diameter and are part # 297201

Michael, I though something was funny after I posted about the 3hp. But my book states MN:92500-96500 and 130200-131200 for 3 thru 5 hp engines. I do not know if thats a mis-print or what, I am going to do some further checking. Now that the weather is trying to become a real spring, I will be on here more often. I shut my shop down over the winter and just re-open 3 days ago. Nice to hear from you again.

Probably a different piston ring landings setup as when I looked at the engine specs the bore is the same diameter( 2.562 +-.0005).

Now there is where part of the difference is. The 80000 series has a 2.370 std cylinder bore. Barring any other problems the 060000 and 080000 would use the 297201 rings. And then the 090000, 10A000 thru 10M000, and 130000 would use the 299742 rings. Just guessing on the 10A000 thru 10M000 based on bore diameter.

Things are slowly getting clear than mud.
