B&S Fource Valve Clearances

Postby Skywatcher » Tue Apr 08, 2014 8:13 pm

Greetings All

Hope the B&S techs can help me out here. Have a B&S trimmer engine on a brush cutter, carbon built up in cylinder & a chunk lodged under intake valve. Have the head off and valves out, cleaned carbon from combustion chamber and have replacement gaskets on order. Before reassembling, I'd just like to know the specs for valve clearances.

Engine info:
Model: 021032
Type: 0523-E1
Code: 0505062A

Forgot to add; What is the correct sparkplug for this engine? B&S says part # 790885, but an NGK number is far more useful to me.

Thanks and all the best,

Sky

Owners manual indicates 696876 plug which is a Champion RDJ7Y or NGK BPMR6F. They are also listing a EMC "Q" plug on Briggs Power Portal.

Valve clearance IN/EX .05-.10 mm (.002" - .004")
