Yes. I changed my post previous post. If someone had posted before I change it I would made a second post. Maybe you posted shortly after I made the change. I only as I did it after I had a tiller that came with the engine that had that part number listed in the IPL.

And for your info the carburetor screen from the plastic carburetor won't work as you thought for they are too small in diameter. Matter of fact I have on order 5 of these larger screens for later used here.

Thanks for your previous post showing me what I need to get. It was exactly what I was looking for.

Next step is putting it back together with the linkage and all which has me quite nervous

I Briggs today and here was the response

The complete carburetor is no longer available ( part number # 499149 ) however there are a limited number carburetor parts still active and available through Briggs.

I am attaching the Illustrated Parts List for your engine so that you may identify the individual parts and check to see if they are still active.

If they are not, I've also attached a listing of Old Antique Engine Dealers that you may be able to work

Curious. Was you having a particular problem with the carburetor that makes you think you need a new carburetor? Normally a good cleaning of these and the installation of new gasket set fixes most problems.

I have only a few that I had trouble with. They are usually from unit with heavily rusted tanks or have been sitting full of water. None of these problems which from your pictures is the case. I only had one case that required going in deeper to remove a rust blockage by removing the steel balls that plugs that factory drilling access points.

The next worse things that happen after years and years is the side wears out. But most problems are the tank to carb leaks....set a few on fire.

And yes it will work. Contains 3 different style tank gaskets, 3 different style intake gaskets, a diaphragm and an adjustment needle if your carburetor is using one. The only things not there is diaphragm spring and cap which you should have unless you have loss them.

KE4AVB wrote:The carburetor isn't much more than a gasket kit.

Briggs 494624 Carburetor Kit (based on tank and diaphragm gaskets)
or Oregon Oregon 49-078 (contains several versions of tank and intake gaskets)

Not in kit and needed to order separate if lost:
Briggs 221377 DIAPHRAGM SPRING CAP
Briggs 262328 Diaphragm Spring

Wasn't original equip with the filter screen as BGS mentions.
But the part number for the carburetor screen is 691213.

Where exactly does the carb screen go 691213?
