Techumseh 143 824022 #2262B

Postby stienut13 » Sun Apr 20, 2014 4:29 pm

Hi all,

I need a head gasket and oil fill plug. Horizontal motor is on a 2.5 hp on a Craftsman edger. I have the above numbers, but no "H" #. I know I missed something, I don't work on brand T too much.

Thanks to all and Happy Easter. :usa:

Head Gasket 29953C, fill plug 27625

Got lots of the fill plugs in stock, MIGHT have the head gasket, can't remember offhand. Sears shows that they will substitute it with an aftermarket stens head gasket, so it is possible that gasket went NLA (Some have recently)

Thanks 38 and Brian,

Did I miss this motor in the Techumseh links? If it's there please point me to it, cause I'm going to need head torque and sequence.
I'm chasing an oil leak, pulled engine, the tins, no sign of leak from flywheel or pulley end. Popped off head just for a look see, bore is very nice. Just slight carbon on head and piston, no scoring or ridge at all. Some oil in top of shroud and lots all over bottom half of motor. No obvious leaks seen, but there is one there, somewhere.

This my personal piece, just working on it to kill an afternoon or a few.

Thanks again,

Jim :usa:

Thanks KE4,

I couldn't find this motor in the links, but searching around, I'm figuring just about 17 Ft/lbs. Couldn't find the sequence either, so I'll start on inside and work outwards in 3 passes. First, I need to get the parts!!
Man I'd really like to see if this one is in the Techumseh link.

Thanks again to all.

Parts IPL on Partstree.com.

Cylinder bolts 16.5ft-lbs. Three passes is good for even torquing and preventing head warpage during the process.

Your torque sequence is in the Tecumseh 3 to 11 hp 4-cycle L-head Engines Service manual PDF page 86 (Manual Page 83) Fig. 24
Torque specs start on PDF page 95 (Manual Page 91).

In case don't have the SM let me know and I can e-mail a copy (2.6 megs)

Hi all,

While I had it apart I pressure washed the beast, and repainted the block, head, tins, etc. All back together now, just need to readjust this twitchy carb.
Hey, no more oil leaks and looks good too.

Thanks to everyone.
