Kolher dies

I have a Kolher CH11 spec 1612 on a 30 gallon air copressor. While it was filling up the tank the pop off valve started going off at 130 psi. So i moved the throtle to slow and it dies. After it happens its hard to turn by hand. It has compression of 120 psi. The intake valve is leaking according to a leak down test
Would a leaky intake valve cause it to die?

If it's pumping up just fine but dying at idle I would be more inclined to believe you have an unloader problem. The pop-off valve likely does not unload the compressor but is just a safety to keep your tank from going into orbit. No small engine can keep a compressor going at idle if it is loaded. Remove the belt and run the engine thru all speeds. If that works fix the unload.

If it pumps to 130 psi,the engine is plenty strong,do the valves if you want trouble free operation in the future,but the problem lies with the unloader.

I don't think its the unloader valve. The valve itself is new. the old one was leaking. As soon as it died I unhooked the unloader valve tubing still stuck drained air pressure still stuck. The belts are pretty tight. Unhooked belts compressor pump moves freely. Motor was stuck turned pulley by hand and it let go and started spinning. Motor starts and runs great with no load.

From the above description; personally, I suspect an oiling problem with the rod seizing to the crankshaft with aluminum transfer.

Well you may be right . It has a small leak on the crankcase cover. So I am going to pull it and look at the con rod.
Do Kokler engine not use gaskets on the crankcase and valve covers? I cant seem to find them on the ipl

Some do, some do not - if they don't show on the IPL then they'll be sealed with a sealant like Hondabond or Loctite Ultra Grey

Well the crankshaft and the con rod look good .
The valves have a bit of carbon on the shafts and were hard to move.
I ordered a head gaket and and valve stem seal amd will see what happens.

Keep us posted. Is this a new problem or have you just started using this compressor? Loosening your belts a little and maybe raising your idle speed slightly may help. Could be a governor problem to but not likely since the idle stop should be enough to keep it running.
