Husky Pressure Washer

Hello all
Husky pressure washer with Honda GCV160 LA N5R
Pump is ANNOVI REVERBERI pump RMW2.2G24 ( I suspect the EZ version because the inlet/outlet tubes face the front, as does the spark plug )

I was given this unit last spring with the engine only running on full choke, and pump not pumping water. ( I had posted on PERR )
Last Spring:
1) Advice from PERR member led to new gaskets on carburetor. Engine ran great with new gaskets.
2) I disassembled pump once, no crud buildup in there. Disassembled unloader valve, lots of corrosion, polished with steel wool.
Jet and detergent injector(? threaded part that hold jet in place) also needed polishing up.
3) After several cleanings of unloader valve, the unit worked like a champ all summer!

This Spring:
Engine runs great. With engine off I run water to bleed most air out of hose then hook up to pump. Pull trigger on wand to bleed most air out of pump.
Start engine. Pull trigger on wand. Pumps great for about 2 seconds, then NO WATER out of wand.
Disassemble unloader valve, sure enough some corrosion, and valve piston will NOT move. Polished it all up again.
I was careful to not change setting on the nut on the end of the unloader valve.

Same old same old. Hook up hose, pull trigger on wand to bleed until steady stream of water, start engine, the pump may or may not pump water at all.

Is the unloader valve shot? Needing adjustment with the nut on the end? This time I did not yet clean out the 'EZ Start' ball and spring assembly. Should I?

Sure I could just order up a new pump. I do not repair these for a living, so I can afford the time to mess with the pump, even to get only one summer out of it.

What are your thoughts on what could wrong here?

Thank you

Dale

Probably busted check valves assemblies or bad o-rings; maybe even bad pistons. Considering the cost of the parts you can replace the whole pump just about as the same cost plus you get a good 5 yr warranty on the replacement pump. Also start using some pump saver fluid in the pump when storing the pump.

replace oring on tip of jet, behind injector (shutter valve), these orings wear, stretch up over jet when pressure hits them, blocking water flow. o-ring is available or a complete shutter valve kit
read warranty statements on pump before you buy, not many parts covered on any brand pump, most parts are wear items

Thanks Guys.

Smallen, I think you are on to something. Last night I removed the jet, spring, and detergent injector.
Now everything seems to work, but there is a reduction in pressure at the wand tip.

Then I replaced just the detergent injector hoping to get more pressure. No change.
Then I replaced the jet and spring, haha, no pumping at all!! Perhaps because the oring is going out of place.

I will replace the oring next.

Last year, when I would pull the trigger on the wand, the RPMs would lower a bit, and you could hear the engine work harder to pump with plenty of pressure.

This year, when I pull the trigger, RPMs do not change. And pressure is no so great. At least now it is pumping!

Could pump parts be wearing? Of course they could. But not over the winter when I did not use the washer. I would expect last years performance.

Could the removing of the JET cause less pressure out the wand? (and make it easier on the engine so it doesn't grunt with slightly lower RPM?)

This is the xxxxEZ pump. There is a screw, ball, spring and seat to make starting the cold engine easier. Could that be stuck, and not allowing full pressure?

Thanks again for your help.

the oring on jet is a popular item when water flow stops, we buy the orings in a 100 pack a time, the easy start sprin/ball will cause low pressure, butt not the water stop problem, check ball, should be able to push it down a little, may me stuck, check spring below ball, look closely at ends, should be ground flat, spring can break

Thanks again. Can you believe our local hardware store had NO metric sized orings? The jet takes 4x2.5. The store owner told me he could eyeball the right size.

Perhaps I should order the kit, and replace them all.

I will check the ez start ball and spring and let you all know what I find.
