Stihl 026 Pro Oil Pump Issues

Postby davbell25413 » Wed Apr 23, 2014 6:16 pm

Stihl 026 Pro oil pump works when it wants. This the 2nd it done this. First time it did it I poked the hole in the valve to release the pressure and found stick behind the clutch. Bad oil pump or possibly a clogged oil filter?

Check your oil filter screen.

Also you got an email enroute with with SM and IPL. Review lubrication section. I think the 026 Pro is the same as 026 SM I got here.

I think there might be a dupe on the message it showed as it sent it twice for some reason.

I'll go ahead and replace the oil filter screen. Email(s) were a no show.

Update

Appears the chain is getting oil but not enough. I see dry spots on the chain after cutting through 18in diameter white oak tree trunk with a 20in bar. I get oil coming out when the tip to concrete floor in my garage.

If what I read is correct that model should have oil feed adjustment on side of the case and may simply need to increase to oil flow rate.

Im gonna look for that adjustment. The service manual had nothing in it about it.
