Hello,
I just joined because I'm having a problem and I have learned more from these forums than anywhere else. My problem concerns a 4y/o Craftsman snowblower powered by a 5.5hp Tecumseh engine. I've tried for a couple days to find an answer with no luck. The engine won't start. This year during it's first use it began stalling for no apparent reason. It would restart easily until the last time and now I can't get it started to save my life. I got it into the basement, pulled the carb and cleaned it. It was pretty clean and there were no big deposits. There was gas in the float bowl. I bought a new sparkplug, checked it and there is good spark. I did find a metal rod about the diameter of a clothes hanger wrapped around the drive shaft and removed it. Compression seems to be good, Oil level good. the auger turns when the handle is engaged and you attempt to start it. The wheels engage as well. Yesterday I got a couple pops and it sounded like the engine wanted to start. Today nothing. Starting fluid makes no difference. I can clean the carb again but other than that I'm at a loss. Can anyone help me out with some suggestions. I really would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Bix
