Champion RJ12C compatible plug

Postby stienut13 » Fri May 23, 2014 8:31 pm

Hi all,

I'm working, refurbing, on a 1993 Lawnboy 10201 2 cycle mower. See my other post. Manual calls for a Champion RJ12C, which must be obsolete. What is the correct replacement plug?
Thanks,

Jim :usa:

Still available as Stens 130-462...although it is list now as a Champion 592 otherwise. An alternate would be NGK BR6S.

Jim,
I would recommend going with the NGK- equivalent plug even if the Champion is still available. I have learned from others here (and also recently personally experienced) that Champion quality and reliability is not what it used to be.

Thanks Michael,

No RJ12C available at the mower shop, Depot, Tractor Supply or Advance. Ordered a BP6S at Advance, it'll be in this afternoon.

Thanks again,

I hope that was a typo.

You want a BR6S - BP6S will have an extended tip and punch a hole in your piston, if you're unlucky.

Thanks Brian,

I apologize for the late response.

I did order and get the BR6S. It is much different than the BPM7Y the counterman at the mower shop assured was the correct plug. I now I see what extended tip is.
Throttle still has me baffled, I started another thread on 10201 governor setup.

Thanks,
