Bought a rather sad mower as a project. It has the original engine, 110988 1275 831115.
Have dealt with all the major engine issues, non existent valve clearances, stripped threads, loose inlet manifold cross over tube and leaking fuel tank etc but then realised that the air filter canister is not the correct one for the engine.
According to the IPL it should be a shallow one drawing air from holes in the bottom of the canister but the one fitted is one of the deeper ones with a plastic grid in the bottom drawing air from a slot in the front. In fact the grid should stick out a little way through the slot. Only problem is that the grid is missing.
Before going on a hunt for a different canister or a grid I've had a look through the IPLs to see if the grid was ever available alone and whether it's still available but I can't find an IPL showing that pattern of air filter. So can any BS expert point me to a model and type IPL that shows the deep filter box with the grid?
The whole mower only cost me £10/ $15 and so far has only cost me head and valve chest gaskets and a bit of hardware but it would be nice to sort the air cleaner.
On a slightly different tack, Briggs here in the UK do not sell the American Red paint any more. Does anyone know a paint code for that colour?
