Kohler 17HP engine dying

Well, I clipped the end off the anti backfire plunger and that didn't help any. Replaced the fuel line as well.

Any other thoughts.

Have you checked for spark when it dies? Could be a heat sensitive coil as suggested earlier

Clipping off the plunger is a little over doing it when a bowl bolt would have done the same thing and costs a lot less.

A heat heat sensitive coil is a good possibility. I had one that the engine would run 30 minutes or longer without problem but as soon as I shut it down and got a drank of water it would not fire at all on the restart.

Edit: Deleted the comment about the fuel line as I see you already replaced that.

I have seen the conector at the anti-fire soliniod become loose and loose the eletrical conection. The fix is remove it, and squeese the connecter closed a little bit.

Well, I took one last stab at it before I hauled it off to the repair shop. Changed the spark plug, fuel line and filter and cleaned the carb and VOILA!! it runs good now. Of course I had already ruined the anti backfire solenoid but that doesn't really seem to do much anyway.
