Landa Pressure washer PC3-2200

Postby plpitts1 » Sat Dec 07, 2013 8:10 am

Hello,
I have a Landa PC3-2200 Pressure washer, Pump model LG303OG.1, with a Honda GX200 Engine GCAHT-1603322. I am getting water in the oil. I called Landa to get part #s and such, and there tech said that I needed to replace the ceramic plungers and packing’s?? I pulled it apart and the ceramics where cracked and one broken. I replaced and still have water getting in the oil. Seems like there must be some seals between the pumps crank case and the plungers. I called the Landa tech back and he said I must have damaged the new plungers or packing’s. I took it back apart and all is good. Double checked the order of the packing’s and that they are facing the correct way. Are there not seals between the water side and the oil side???? Other than that everything works great, good consistent pressure.
Thanks,
Pat

I am thinking that it only in the pump's oil.

Of the few pumps that I have rebuilt they always had oil seals.(Cat and AR) These are around the piston drive shafts(rods). The packing you replaced is for the water pressure the pistons creates. I would check the condition of these shafts as you had piston that was shattered and the pieces could have also damaged them.

Depending the pump replacement cost based on size and warranty you are usually better off getting a new pump as the repair parts can easily out strip the repair costs.

Btw it is a Karcher pump which has a 5 year warranty when it was new and costs around $410. I don't know the cross over part number as it was built for Landa.

Thanks,
I’ll take a look for cracks on Monday when I go back. The Tech at Landa says that if it where the oil seals that you refer to, that oil would leak from under the pump. When I told him I had no leaks, he said that it would not be the oil seals. This does seem necessarily true to me, but I am not a pressure washer expert. Thanks for your replies.

Yes, oil could drip out if the seals were fairly worn out but I would think is easier for water under pressure to leak pass those oil seals if they are only slightly damaged. I haven't ran this problem yet here. Knowing my luck it could show next week. For I main had busted check valves and the water packing problems.

Either way something isn't sealing. I wish I could be of more help but I just don't get enough of these in to get a good repair experience on them.

there is a space between the water seals and oil seals, if either leak it will drip from the bottom between head and alum. body
if piston was broke you should have replaced the water and oil seals, does the oil level rise or does it just get milky looking, foam out the breather,

Well, I did not intend to abandon this conversation. I did not realize that someone had posted after KE4AVB. I usually get an email. My bad.
Anyway, it has now been 6 months and I have not worked on a pressure washer since. I never really figured it out. The only thing that I did wrong was put the packing on first and then squeeze the head on, which damage the packing. Then I realized that I should have been putting the packing in the head and then putting it back together (best I can recall). I have no idea how this would fix the water in the oil problem. I have rented this machine out many times since without issue. When you resolve your issue, I hope you post the answer. Sorry I do not have a solution for you.

I have found that the best way to deal with bad pumps, is to replace them. Call Water Cannon and tell the guy what engine and pump you have now, and he will tell you what he has that will work.

Yes, I was thinking that maybe I had not gotten all the water out of the pump as well. It has been fine for a good while now. Have a good day,
