Water. 1 gallon of water is about 8.3 pounds, a gallon of Gasoline, depending on the formulation can weigh between 5.8 to 6.5 pounds

Without knowing the weight is still easily observable just some gas in a clear container and pour a little water. The heavier of two the will sink to the bottom.

I do same thing when testing for ethanol in fuel. Put in a pre-measured amount of water in a test tube and add the the fuel being tested. Shake vigorously and let sit for for a few minutes. If ethanol is present in fuel it combine with the water and settle to bottom. Basically you end up more water that settles out than what started with. With correct amounts added you can even get a close estimate of the amount of ethanol in the fuel.

I posted on here about using aviation fuel, last week I asked my gas station if any other stations sold ethanol free gas. She told me their premium was ethanol free. I asked her if she guaranteed it and said she only knew what oil co. told her. So with KE4AVB test I should be able to confirm. Haven,t had a test tube in 37 years, college chemistry. Will have to improvise I guess...

Only two stations close to me. Really a coincidence I already use one of them. Maybe they should put up a sign.
