Cub Recon

Postby 1957hd5 » Mon Jul 07, 2014 1:52 pm

I have a 2008 cub recon I bought new. It started being sluggish when I take off. Usually make a couple circles, then it picks up speed and runs normally. Sometimes if I stop for a few minutes I have to repeat the circle ritual. I replaced the filter and fluid last year, it called for rimula, couldn't find so I used rotella 15 w40 after calling Cub.
It was doing this once in a while before I changed filter and fluid.
Any ideas on where I should start?

I thought I followed the instructions on purging the lines, but maybe not. Hope it is not a pump going bad. Both wheel motors seem to have the same amount of power, they are Kanzazi or something like that. Thanks

Model number is 53AH8ST5050

Have you tried changing the pump drive belt?

At the price of 1000.00+ for this pump it should be rebuildable if you can find who makes it and the model number with serial number. I don't see anything as to who makes it in the IPL but of course they are hiding that somewhat.

I believe it is a Kanzazi??? DUP-10.
Don't know if I spelled that right.
Would a pump drive belt slip at first then tighten up? If it is the pump I sure hope I can rebuild. I already looked up the price, that is why I am begging for help on here....

I look in the reservoir every time I use it and maybe I have not had my bifocals on before, but last night it looked like it might be 1/2" below where it is supposed to be. I will feel stupid if that is all it is.

Hopefully it hasn't damaged anything.
I was too tired to do anything with it last night, been wrestling with a new calf all week, trying to get it to nurse the cow, think I finally won the battle last night, it started nursing all by itself.

Sometimes as the belt heats up it becomes a very more sticky hence more traction. I several AYP hydro that wouldn't move this until the belt warmed up. Replaed the belts and the problem went away; doesn't mean that will happen here.

I believe it going to be spelled Kanzaki.

Jd Z-trak Z645 early models used the DUP-10 and you look the parts on their site. Sn 130000 and below if i am thinking correctly that it is the dual drive version. JD other models included the Z655 and the Z665. Either way the models are listed as having the DUP-10 pump.

Thanks for the link looks like parts are to be had. I will try the belt first.
I went over the service manual that came with the mower, that I followed when I changed the filter and fluid, and it said fully purging the system was not necessary when only the filter and fluid was changed, so im sure I didn't.
It said to idle the engine and move the hand levers back and forth.

The fact that it it runs okay after a warmup seems to point to the belt or the oil.

Sounds better than a pump. I am going to try to google and find a replacement belt at an auto parts store. I bought this mower from a long time friend who had owned his shop for a long time, partly because we were friends and because he had good service. He would even drop filters, blades etc at my house.

A divorce last year ended that, I guess he lost the business in the divorce. So no more home delivery on Cub Commercial parts, I would have to drive a ways.

Make sure you get the correct belt. If you get "a belt that I think should work", you won't know if you fixed anything or not.

You can easily find the correct on the web, saves ga$. Look up the OEM number and then check with fleabay or other vendors to get the best price. Pay attention to the description/details! I wouldn't go with an auto parts store belt!
