Ahh I see I miss typing a couple zeros. Hugh differences; sorry my fault and thanks for catching it. Made a correction note on the original post too.

.000039" x 70 = .00273"(and not .273" as I originally typed) and .000039" x 150 = .00585"

The stuff that I see in carb bowls and inside the carb appears as though it's in the gas and a filter would not stop the eventual seeping past the needle and seat issue. (looks like red dust when it's dry) like when gas evaporates it leaves a residue contamination sometimes similar to fine rust. If the equipment is operated quite frequently the gas in oil issue is not as likely to occur.

Bottom line: Turn off the manual fuel petcock. Might mount the manual fuel petcock next to the kill switch so as it's readily visible and a block of wood or better yet a can of beer (reward) on the kill switch as a reminder. :idea:

I guess the biggest problem you have is having more than one operator. I don't like using shut-off valves as a repair when there is just one operator; forget it once and you have another mess.
I've seen dust like that in bowls. I have never seen a needle and seat leak because of it. At least, not that I was aware of. I've never had a come-back on a needle and seat repair, so I can only guess that they all worked okay. I have to assume that any customer who had a problem would've called me about it. Myself, I would replace the needle and seat and see how it goes.
