has anyone ever worked on the 6x6 or 8x8 argos. if anyone understands the hydro part i would like to learn about them. how they are set up and would like scags trans work or something cheaper might as well and if you need just one or one on each side or one on each axle. just trying to learn more about them and how they move and how they get the speed they do and how some are two speed and with reverse. thanks for any info pics or what you might know. thanks again

From what I have looked at for the ATV they are not hydrostatic driven instead they a variable pitch clutch system driving a manual transmission that are several ATVs on the market now. The steering is provided by applying a disc brake to which ever side that needs slowing to turn. The all the wheels on one side is connected to each other via chains so all turn at one time. Reminds of old kids show when I was younger. I think it was called "The Banana Bunch" were got around using the 6x6 ATVs.

They are using Briggs and Kohler engines to drive the power train. Part and Owner manuals are available via their website, under support > downloads. Here is their web address http://www.argoatv.com/.

I remember that show too, it was actually "The Banana Splits" and it was my favourite part of Saturday mornings . We used to watch it on our first black and white TV back in 1967.

Anyhow, I had an Argo in my shop a few years ago, the owner thought he'd save some money by using the old gasoline that was still in the tank when he bought the machine. Stuck both intake valves and bent two push rods on its Kawasaki V-twin.

Sky, Tnx for correcting me. I was only 7-10 years old when I watched them in B&W too. I even had a cousin that had one those machines that the Bananas had.

Never thought of looking it up on Wiki. I was only 6 or 7 back then and that was a long time ago. Mom had just bought her first reel to reel tape recorder and I remember having Mom record the theme tune from the TV. However we seem to be getting a little off the original topic here
