generac xl4000 choke problem

Postby kirby4000 » Mon Jan 20, 2014 7:41 pm

Hi, thanks for letting me in. my problem is with a generac 4000xl. usually starts and runs like a top. This winter , with 8 month old gas (with stabil) it starts up but never gets to the point where I can close the choke all the way. it wants the choke open a bit. Stalls out when the choke is closed. I ran some berrymans thru it but maybe not long enough. any ideas?
thanks, Kirby.

Your probably meaning to say "Can't run the choke fully open" if so your probably going need to fully clean the carburetor. Even with fuel stabilizer the air bleeds and other ports in the carburetor still can partially clogged from the fuel drying up over time. Just had to re-clean a customer's mower carburetor that has been sitting since last Spring. He have not pick it up since I repaired it and the fuel had dried up completely.

I haven't sold it due his wife's has developed Dementia and I know it is a full time job taking care of person with this problem. Before she got sick she was taking patients with Dementia herself so he and I both know full well what he is in for.
