B & S 8hp Carb Linkage-Problem!

Postby 2speed » Sun Feb 02, 2014 1:11 am

Hello, I Bought this snowblower with the linkage hanging at the carb. Tried every area on the linkage plate, but Nothing seems to fit correctly.
The Governer is hooked up correctly, go's up to the Carb...But, from there...I'm Lost!! The little spring go's Someplace..Or theres something missing?
Runs Excellent!, Just can't control the RPM'S....Its an Older Simplicity...Model # 1691023..... Engine # 190403 3044 01 86050210

I did see a older post, with the same problem. but, can't find it again?

Can someone Please tell me were to find the right Diagram?

HELP!!!

Luffydog, Thanks for the Reply.

Been to every site i can find on the Web. NO-LUCK!!! I must have an Old Piece of Crap Dinosaur!! There is Nothing that Matchs what i have.
Hate to order a Manual for it, Knowing it won't have what i need to know. Mine is completely stock, No-one has Tampered with it, by installing something Different...thats for sure! I have even watched some of them Youtube video's...No-Luck-Again.

Got to be a Web Site out there that has a Blow-Up Diagram of a Old Dinosaur 8hp briggs.... :usa:

It is a very simple arrangement. The long skinny spring if still there slips over the long link then the rod goes between the carb shaft and the outermost hole on the governor arm. The ends of the spring hook into the same holes to take up slop due to wear. The short heavy governor spring goes from the governor arm to the u shaped tang on the back of the throttle control plate.
Next do a static governor adjustment. Loosen the clamp on the end of the lever, hold the throttle in the full throttle position then rotate the shaft coming out of the block ccw as far as it will go. Without moving anything, tighten the clamp.
