Help with Kolher Choke

Postby Az Shadeguy » Fri Feb 21, 2014 9:03 pm

I am working on a Kolher ch11 spec 1612
When I got it was missing some parts.
The choke shaft was broken and the the choke linkage was missing. i ordered the linkage and shaft and now I can't figure out how to install it correctly.
The old part number was 12-079-08.
The new part number is 12-079-05
Is this the right part or am I missing something
Thanks

Actually the 12 079 05s was replaced by the 12 079 08s according to Kohler plus site but they should be the same part.

Which carburetor do you have and what choke repair kit did you order? There are two different carburetors listed for this engine. The Walbro uses kit 12 755 110-S and Nikki uses kit 12 757 30-S.

As for connecting up it you will try different setups as IPL will only guide you so far but it should give a good idea how it should look.

Ya need to download a manual here: http://www.kohlerengines.com/manuals/landing.htm
As I've mentioned several times, this site has excellent carb info with color photographs !! http://outdoorpowerinfo.com/repairs/#id_kohler

You appear to have a little breakdown than I can find. I look in the service but the pic I seen of the choke isn't detailed enough to help. Where is it binding as the choke butterfly be slightly mis-aglined?

All I have in house currently is a M8 which has a different choke system. Maybe someone that has a CH11 could take and post some pics of their carburetor & choke setup. It sure would be helpful.

I remember the first CH that I took the carb. off years ago. I spent about 15 minutes trying to figure out how it went back on, and I took it off.
Once you figure it out it's pretty simple. I think I have a CH12 or something similar I might be able to get photo's.
Can we post photos here or have to use an outside service?

Photobucket is recommended, but yes use outside hosting, max width 600 px

I thought an outside site was required.
I got a few pictures however the close ups are a bit blurry and the photos are large 1280x960, not sure you could tell much
with smaller photo's.
Any who I don't use photobucket so if any one wants me to e-mail them I will try. They are about 460kB each.
The choke cable comes up from underneath the air filter cover where it is secured at the bottom, then extends upward to a
bell crank. The other end of the bell crank attaches to the choke rod which meanders over to the choke plate attachment.

photobucket.com - Its free to use and it has tools to resize your photos so any size pic you have you can resize, and edit - there's other editing tools, I believe they even have something that clears up blur a little

Send them to me and I'll see what I can do with them. Click on my username to access the email address. I'll see what I can do about resizing here.

EDIT: Didn't know that regular users could not use the email option. Sorry this learning the this board's operations.
