cant get briggs engine to run

You sometimes see fuel lines blocked off with a threaded bolt or screw. A sure fire way to end up with little grains of rubber in the system.
Either clamp it or use something hard and polished like an old cam follower.

Very good point wristpin! We use GOLF TEES for that purpose. With their tapered shape you can get a nice snug fit.
