I have had problems in 2 cycle carburetors where that sealant had came loose and clogged the jets before. So far I have never used any sealant myself on welch plugs as Nevada said they should seal properly without it; unless, there is damage to the mounting area. If they leak then I address the problem so far none has.

I think I'll check into that Permatex sealer though as I have had a few replacement brass needle seat to leak after replacement resulting in having to install a second seat.

Yeah, I've had sealant that came off in the main diaphragm area and jam open the teeter totter operating the inlet needle. Luckily its never been one I did but the factory or someone else's work. And it was always sealant applied to heavy in the first place. Gotta use sparingly and make sure no residue oil from 2 stroke mix is left.
