May or may not need a bolt, but MOST manufacturers put one on anyway -Please read forum rules and guidelines, especially that part where we ask "Provide Engine and Equipment Model Numbers" We could look up the machines parts list and then advise correctly whether or not it originally was equipped with a bolt (and usually a large, very thick flat washer which is NOT common hardware you can get in a hardware store.)
@KE4 - that's an adjustable clutch - the coil winding is on a base bolted to the engine, followed by the keyed clutch plate. then the clutch disc ,ball bearing, drive pulley assembly go on , and retained by a cover that is then mounted to studs welded to the bolt-on plate with springs under neath and nylock or crown lock nuts (fine thread) retaining the adjustment plate - it presses down on the clutch disc to get disc within the .010 - .014 adjustment of the keyed clutch plate
Used to see them all the time on JD, Wheel Horse, old Simplicity, Case IH, and the like but clutches like that are few and far between these days as the newer ones do not require adjustment.
