Kohler command hard start

You could also check for a glazed over commuter ring on the armature. This glaze is basically a thin layer of glass acting like a resistor.

Checked ground cable. No corrosion at all. Checked compression, cold engine,
195#'s.

Too much compression, yup. compression release issue. However, checking ground cable for corrosion is *NOT* the same as performing a voltage drop test on the circuit.

But, if your compression gauge is accurate and you are actually getting 195 PSI, definitely way too much unless you've got the solenoid shift starter (Solenoid integrated to the starter)

The telltale sign that it wasn't working is when I observed the valves as I rolled it over by hand & didn't see the acr opening the exhaust valve on power stroke.
