KE4,
Do you have an item number or link for the tool you posted? I went to harbor freights website and could not find it

The truest measure of society is the how it treats its elderly, its pets, and its prisoners.

Just to update the thread. I bought the Pittsburgh puller set KE4 posted from harborfreight and it worked perfectly. I was impressed with the quality of this puller for 40 bucks. Very heavy and seems well built

Glad you were able to get it off. Usually older McLane's did not use allen screws to secure the sprocket to the intermediate jackshaft; rather they were cross drilled and secured with a roll pin. That's why part number 1053 is sold as a set, "Jack Shaft with Pulley and Sprocket".

Since the mower does appear to have a lot of miles (noting the wear on the rear roller), perhaps someone previous either replaced the sprocket with a tapped one (and allen screws) or drilled and tapped the sprocket to use allens.

I dont know how many miles the mower has on it, My mechanic said it had never been sharpened. The back story was some homeowner bought it off a shade tree mechanic and then sold it to me on CL.

Anything else breaks that is over 20 dollars, I am buying a brand new/barely used reel mower.
