Tnx Don, I knew they change the part number but I couldn't find any other info on the newer piston assembly; hence, the suggestion of calling the supplier. It would have been nice if they a had put a note in with the piston assembly about the change. When you find out let me know so I can made a note in my PDF copy of HSK850 repair manual for future reference.

I have always been told it better to ask for help when you don't the answer.

:) The kit came in a plain box with Tecumseh label on the top. I am going to call my supplier this AM. I either heard/read that some company in southern Indiana bought the rights and etc to Tecumseh. But I can not remmeber who it was. I will let you know if I find out anything about the arrow. I am also going to try and get a hold of T-Man and see if maybe he knows. I think that Bob is going thru his 2d childhood. :usa:

Not unusual - they also have parts that come in bare bags with just a single 1/4" wide label and tecumseh logo with part number on it. - anybody cold counterfeit those labels and sell anything as genuine Tecumseh until they figure out a way to put a stop to that.

Yes - Certified Parts Corp. bought them, and they still "build" .. well Tecumseh now known as Lauson for Snow applications .. reason I put it in quotes - engines are just Honda clones built in China - same as MTD's Powermore, LCT's engines, and even certain Briggs and Kohler models pretty much come off one of those assembly lines somewhere in China. Some of them are actually pretty decent engines - but it seems to rely a lot on the brand owner's quality control processes - the better the QC, the higher the prices.. but that seems reasonable. Otherwise you can just buy a HF $99 engine and get the same thing, but the QC risk would be yours. :)

Well, Teaspoon,(may I call you Teaspoon...or is that Tablespoon...) I seriously thought you were dispensing with what could only be perceived as Midwestern humor, since the post before yours clearly mentioned the model number! Oh well...

Perhaps...

That many?

I suspect you'll get a chance to say hello to Him before me, whattayathink?

Like I said...I am only human. I could have easily just deleted that post and probably would have if I had ever thought someone would make such a big deal out of a mistake. Hey...are you married Deere?

:) I remmebered that before removing the old piston and rod ass'y, there was a k stamped in the piston. which pointed toward the pto side. So I installed the new ass'y with the arrow towards the pto side. It is back together and running just fine. No where in the manual can I find the max rpm;s for this engine, would anyone know what the max rpm's are for this engine? :usa:

Info obtain from the following page.

:) KE4AVB, Thank you. I will turn her up to 4000, as I set it at 3600. After working on this engine, I know why I do not normally work on 2 cycles. :usa:
