Check clogged spark arrestor on the muffler.

Also post your equipment numbers so we can the correct ipl for troubleshooting; there is at least 13 versions out there. There should be a number formatted like xx-xxxxxx-xx on it.

Also beware that most of the parts are NLA for any these McCullouhs.

I tried to just get s gas cap a couple of wks ago and it was Nla or no longer Ava. That told me that the carb kit and if it was Ava. That the unit was not worth the fix. He had to just bite the bullet and get a new unit.

Luffy,

You find that the bulk of the parts are gone for any of the older McCullouhs. The original McCullouh company is out of business and the company the brought the name aren't producing any of the old parts. As for the carburetor they to have been using Zama carburetors and most of the repair kits for those are still available.

I was disappointed that there weren't any parts around when I went to rebuild my three Mac Cats. All three had bad oil pumps; they are now parted out and the remains recycled.

Did you put a carb kit in after cleaning? Could be dried out, stiff diaphragm from ethanol. They will run, but no rpms out of them. MH
