Rubber Paddles on a JD TRS-21

Season's Greetings to All

Just had a JD TRS-21 snow thrower in my shop with a few problems, one of which was worn rubber paddles on the auger. JD only sells the complete auger assembly for $200.00 plus, so I figured I should be able to do better than that. A little research showed this unit was actually built by Murray and Stens carries replacement rubber for Murray for around $80.00 retail. Long story short, drilled out all the rivets and secured new Stens 780-340 rubber paddle set to auger with ¼" x ¾" carriage bolts and flange lock nuts with a drop of medium strength thread locker on each bolt just in case.

Net result, customer had all new rubber on his snow thrower for less than 2/3 the price of new auger from JD which would have required labour to install on top of that. Merry Christmas and all the best,

Sky

Very nice! Excellent info, Thank you.

Yes I've noticed quite a few "Consumer" grade (Read: Cheap) John Deere machines such as that were made by Murray... always well worth looking to see if there's any cross references to suitable, and often cheaper, Briggs Power Products parts (or aftermarket for that matter)
