Dave you got two safety switches between the ignition switch and solenoid relay. They are the PTO and Brake/Clutch switches. You should have the battery voltage on the orange wire from the ignition switch when it is in start position though these switches. You could also a faulty electrical connection where the voltage is dropping due poor connections.
Do you have the wiring diagram? Or do you need a copy sent to you for that 42" Yard King?
I got a wiring diagram. I have power no going to the solonoid when testing voltage on the wire that hooks up on the terminal tab of the solonoid. I tried unplugging the safety switches but no luck. I have 12v when in run and turned on crank on the ignition switch.
